Singapore Takes the Lead in AI Safety with Project Moonshot
Singapore has taken a significant step forward in addressing the safety and security challenges associated with large language models (LLMs) with the launch of Project Moonshot, a generative artificial intelligence testing toolkit. This innovative platform is designed to provide an easy-to-use testing toolkit that brings together red-teaming, benchmarking, and baseline testing in one place.
AI Safety is a top priority
The launch of Project Moonshot is a testament to Singapore’s commitment to harnessing the power of the global open-source community in addressing AI risks. The toolkit is designed to provide intuitive results of the quality and safety of a model or application in an easily understood manner, even for non-technical users.
A Move Towards Global Testing Standards
Project Moonshot is also part of a larger move towards global testing standards. Two leading AI testing organizations, AI Verify Foundation (AIVF) and MLCommons, have signed a memorandum of intent (MOI) to collaborate on building a common safety benchmark suite.

Championing Women in Tech in Southeast Asia
In addition to the launch of Project Moonshot, Minister Teo also unveiled findings from a joint report by IMDA and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) titled Closing Tech’s Gender Gap in Southeast Asia. The report surveyed over 4,000 individuals from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, highlighting the need for greater strides to support women in technical roles and leadership positions.
