SenseTime’s Latest LLM: A New Era in AI Interaction?
As I sat in the audience at SenseTime’s latest demonstration, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and awe. The Chinese AI firm has just released the latest iteration of its large language model, SenseNova 5o, and it’s clear that this is a game-changer.

The new model boasts a whole new interaction effect that is benchmarked against US AI firm OpenAI’s chatbot GPT-4. In the demonstration, SenseNova 5o was able to read tags worn by staff and tell that they were at a launch event. It was like something out of a sci-fi movie.
But what really impressed me was the model’s ability to identify logos on caps, or the shape of a soft toy and describe its appearance. It can also summarize the content on a written page, all in a matter of seconds. The interview between a human asking a question and the chatbot answering was seamless, with a response time of around two to three seconds.
“Chatbots need to have better reasoning abilities, interact more naturally and their ability to generate knowledge needs to be better controlled in order to allow for more AI breakthrough moments,” said Chairman Xu Li.
Real-time interactivity is key for a smooth experience and producing amazing moments, and SenseNova 5o delivers. The model demonstrates a 30 percent improvement in comprehensive performance compared with SenseNova 5.0, with improved mathematical reasoning skills and English ability.

SenseTime is offering all new users of SenseNova free services such as induction, migration, and training, as well as 50 million training tokens for free. The company is also sending consultants to help OpenAI users migrate to SenseNova without charge.
As I left the demonstration, I couldn’t help but wonder what the future holds for SenseTime and the world of AI. One thing is for sure - with SenseNova 5o, we are one step closer to a future where humans and machines can interact in a seamless and natural way.
